ImageAlberta's own, Jason "The Athlete" MacDonald found out this week via an e-mail that was sent by the UFC that his services were no longer needed and that his UFC contract has been terminated.

MacDonald knew this was a no-brainer, due to the fact that he has occurred several losses in his past few bouts. Mark Pavelich who manages MacDonald told MMACanada.net today "It was a no-brainer, Jason's a great athlete.  Its a hit and miss with Jason".

MacDonald, who has four kids, a successful MMA school and organization in Alberta was not suprised by the e-mails ent by the UFC organization.

"Lets look at this from an outsider, hes making lots of money, the UFC wants him to win fights or else you get cut. Jason knew this", explains Pavelich.

"Jason runs alot of projects, has other interested and has many other options. Hes very succesful".  The one thing that left a sour taste in many of MacDonalds fans was the fact that UFC president Dana White going on national TV explaining that the UFC loved MacDonald and that he had the fighters spirit.

"Dana White goes on TV, says these great things about Jason, and the next day he's cut" states Pavelich.  Jason MacDonald's UFC record stands at 5-5, in his last five-fights he lost three.

In a recent blog by MacDonald, he stated "I’m obviously very disappointed. But I’m not at all angry with the UFC. I’m well aware of the fact that I’m paid to perform. And the reality is three of the past four fights, I’ve lost."

"The UFC has been great to me and they’ve been great to deal with, so there are no hard feelings at all. I understand it’s just the nature of the sport. Especially nowadays, with so many fighters, it’s more important than ever to win fights." says MacDonald.

Will Jason MacDonald ever fight in the MFC again? We asked CEO Mark Pavelich and he states " It looks like he will return to the MFC, im very excited if that happens and id love for him to win the MFC title, it will be very emotional for me"
