GSP To Fight BJ Penn Jan 31st?

Shari Spencer, manager of Georges "Rush" St. Pierre was live on Sherdog Radio yesterday to discuss the bright young champions future.  Shari Spencer stated that January 31,2009 may indeed be the date scheduled for the highly anticipated bout between GSP and Bj Penn in Las vegas.

“That’s my understanding,” said Spencer. “I know Dana White has been announcing it publicly. We haven’t officially signed a bout agreement, but everything is pointing toward January 31st in Vegas against B.J. Penn.”

GSP won a split decision over BJ Penn at UFC 58: Canada vs USA in March 2006. Penn dearly wants that rematch!

Spencer also confirmed that they are still in negotiations with the UFC regarding an extension to St. Pierre’s contract.
