Q) Thanks for taking the time to speak with us here at Canada's premier mixed martial arts media site, now lets get right into it, the toughest match of your career thus far will be at UFC 87 when you fight Kenny Florian, what are your thoughts on Kenny?
A) Kenny's a great competitor. He's very skilled and went 5 rounds with Sean Sherk, so he's no joke.
Q) Kenny has been involved in some of the toughest battles at lightweight and is always improving. What do you have to do to win this fight?
A) I have to dictate the pace and control the fight. Use my power and conditioning to break him
Q) Theres no doubt that you have come along way yourself, you fought some of the top tier fighters, most notably Clay Guida and you showed true heart in that fight which in return gave you the win. What do you think you have over Kenny Florian that will make you a winner that night?
A) I definetly have the heart and conditioning to win this fight. I've also worked on all my skills and you will see the best Roger Huerta ever
Q) What did you learn in that fight with Clay Guida, and did that win make you a better fighter?
A) I can't just go crazy and rely on my heart to win fights. Guys are too good and have to keep getting better
Q) Kenny is an all around complete fighter, Do you have any strategies coming into the fight with?
A) I have strategies, but you'll have to wait till August 9th to see my cards
Q) In the end you both are great athletes and this will make an exciting war! Now You train with some of the best athletes and trainers in the world, can you elaborate on your training camp?
A) This was the best training camp ever.I went to Montreal early to train with Georges St Pierre, and there I met Jon Chaimberg, Georges strength coach, and he changed my whole program around. We worked on building more power and explosion, and I'm the most explosive ever by far.I've worked with kru Phil Nurse,a great striking coach, and went to New Mexico to work with Greg Jackson and the whole team.....a real all star cast, too many to name. Nate Marquardt took me in Denver as well and I trained with him,and his coach Trevor Wittman. Jon Chaimberg and Georges came out to both camps as well. He trains Nate as well as team Jackson
Q) Who would you like to thank thus far?
A) I'd love to thank all my coaches and training partners. The old and the new. Justin Hagen and Dave Menet, who've been around for awhile, and all the new guys I've mentioned who've helped me take my game to the next level
